Daddy’s little girl

Daddy loves Anna. Even when she was still in the womb, Daddy loved to talk to her, read to her and watch her moving. Now she is here, Daddy does everything for her when he is around and he always tries to be around as much as he can.

In a typical weekday, when Daddy gets home from work, he finds Anna and Mummy immediately to give us our kisses. We have dinner and Daddy helps feed her with purée and finger food. It does take hours but Daddy is very patient. He doesn’t like to force her to eat at all, but waits until she is ready and happy to take the next spoon.

He does the bed time routine, i.e. bathing her, applying the eczema cream for her, dressing her and putting her in her sleeping bag. Mummy then takes over at this point to give Anna her dream feed while Daddy helps clear up the mess from dinner.

When he is around, he is always the one who changes Anna’s nappies, no matter whether we are at home or we are out and about. He has a painful wrist from carrying Anna. But it doesn’t stop him from doing all this.

He is also the one who cuts nails for Anna since she was born. He uses the little scissors to go through her toe and finger nails. Mummy must confess that she has never done it before.

He really likes to play with Anna. One of the favourite games is to build a tower using soft blocks for her to knock off. He also likes to watch Anna playing with her toys.

He sings a lot to Anna. When she isn’t very happy, he carries her on his shoulder and sings the nursery rhyme ‘Oranges and lemons’. Mummy didn’t like this song at first, but unsurprisingly Mummy now sings it to calm Anna down too.

He is a keen reader and he loves to read to Anna. He puts her on his lap and goes through each page patiently waiting for her playing with the page. Some favourite books are the children’s bible, Peter Rabit, the ginger bread man, the Millie moo, and the story of Easter.

Anna’s napping is one of his number one concerns. He loves to hear Mummy report about her nap. He likes her to nap well because she is often very tired and unhappy when she doesn’t nap twice a day.

He never likes to leave Anna in the buggy for too long. Whenever we go out, he is always very keen to take Anna out of the buggy so that she can look around and play with things.

On the weekend, Daddy helps cook Anna’s food too. He cooked some minced meats with pepper, spinach and tomatoes today. Unfortunately Anna wasn’t too impressed with it and only liked to eat her favourites: carrots and brocolli.

Mummy loves the weekend mornings when we wake up and have our cuddle time. Daddy and Mummy lie on each side of Anna talking to her and playing with her. She looks around, smiles and laughs so happily.
